Who is Chris Chambers?
As it states on the main page, "he is a character in Stephen King's novella The Body, found in Different Seasons, and he is portrayed by River Phoenix in Rob Reiner's film from 1986." Chris comes from a bad family--his father beats him, his eldest brother Frank ran away from home at age 17 and ended up doing time, and his other brother Richard ("Eyeball") dropped out of school and has j.d. friends like Ace Merrill, Charlie Hogan, and Billy Tessio--and everyone, including Chris, thought he would turn out the same way.
Why Chris Chambers?
While Chris comes from bad roots, the truth remains that he is not like the rest of his family. He has always been the best at making peace, and he continually demonstrates his loyalty toward his friends. It was probably a real surprise for people when he enrolled in college courses with Gordie and chose the path of a lawyer.
Why Low-Life Chambers Kid?
As explained above, most people assume that since he is part of the Chambers family, he is just "one of those low-life Chambers kids". Therefore, the title is fairly ironic, because he has proved himself to be more and better than what people expect.
